Hike Fit 2025

About:

  1. Gain confidence navigating local trails with a group of people and an expert mountain guide and sheep hunter. 

  2. Bring your dog for a walk.

  3. Learn to be confident using GPS. 

  4. Learn the best gear to wear.

  5. Burn 1000 calories + per hour while hiking a weighted pack.

  6. Meet other people interested in exploring

Type of Exercises:

  1. Walking up and down steep hills through trees

  2. Dynamic Stretching

  3. Snowshoeing

  4. Crossing logs

  5. Weighted backpack

 

Where:

Different Locations to be announced the day before the hike on Facebook

 

When:

May 17th, May 24th, May 31st, June 7th. 

 

Times:

9 am – 11 am

 

Gear Requirements

  1. Hiking boots

  2. Synthetic clothing layered to the conditions

  3. Medium sized backpack

  4. Snowshoes

  5. Hiking poles

  6. Cell phone with data and a GPS APP like ihunter or Canada topo

  7. Car to get to meeting points

  8. Water

 

 Deliverables:

  1. Learn to navigate with GPS apps on your cell phone that doesn’t require data.

  2. Learn how to deal with bear encounters and how to avoid them.

  3. Burn up to 1000 calories in 120 mins

  4. Learn about proper hiking gear

  5. Meet other people who love the outdoors

Requirements

  1. Must be over 25 years old and younger than 70 years old

  2. Must have hiking boots with ankle support to wear in the program

  3. Must have synthetic clothing that’s flexible and layered to be ready for the changing weather

  4. Must not have a physical condition that could be made worse by exercise. This condition can be waived with a doctor's note.

  5. Must be a team player

  6. Must be able to walk up and down gentle hills without needing rest. The class is designed to be physically challenging for people who are not challenged by walking.
