About the class and the trainer:
Ryan MacGillivray has been a Certified Personal Trainer for 10 years and he knows what it takes to be a successful mountain hunter too. Ryan is a passionate sheep hunter who harvests a ram each year. Ryan knows that to be a good sheep hunter you must be physically and mentally strong. Ryan has built a program that trains for mental and physical fortitude for backpacking that gets measurable results faster than any other program offered in the Yukon.
This class offers challenging workouts that yield impressive results, requiring only three days of attendance per week. Participants are pushed to their limits, achieving rapid progress. This team-oriented training fosters a sense of camaraderie, motivating everyone to work harder than they thought possible individually. Join a group of adventurous individuals who embrace the challenge.

Mondays- 2 km up Grey Mountain road, left side at Magnuson trailhead parking Lot
Wednesdays – 2 km up Grey Mountain Road left side Magnuson trailhead parking lot
Fridays – Approx 4 km down Fish Lake Road at McIntyre Marsh parking lot (Gazebo)

Deliverables:
Participants will improve strength for squats, planks, narrow pushups, lunges, and hill sprints from 75% -1500% when attending every class. At the end of the program all participants should be able to walk for 30 mins up heckle hill without rest with 50 Lbs in backpack.... if they follow our recommended 10 lbs per week increase of weight for duration of program.

Requirements

Must be over 18 years old and younger than 70 years old

Must have hiking boots with ankle support to wear in the program

Must not have a physical condition that could be made worse by exercise. This condition can be waived with a doctor's note.

Must enjoy group type exercise programs

Regular attendance is needed because every class gets harder and missing classes will increase the chance of injury.
